SEXUAL & CHILD ABUSE
In the case of sexual assault and child abuse the police should be called. Local Public Hospitals have a Sexual Assault response service which can be accessed through the Accident & Emergency Department. Child Abuse should be notified to the Police or Department of Community Services. Child Abuse reporting is mandatory and aimed at stopping further abuse and preventing other children from being abused. The protection of children is paramount and takes precedence over other legal and rights considerations. (NOTE: The Directory may not include all local services and recently established services. )
