PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

If you are single then it is a good time to work on some personal development.

Investment of time and effort in education is building an asset that is uniquely yours - no one can take it away from you, it can't be repossessed, it can't be halved in settlements and it is yours for life. Whether it be for personal development or further advancement in your career or empowerment in gaining qualifications to broaden your options of career paths - it is a worthwhile activity for intellectual stimulation and it's intrinsic social benefits. We list here some useful references to help in researching your options. See menu at the bottom of this page.

Sometimes to assist in major life adjustments we need the help of professionals, so see our online Counselling Directory for some useful contacts.

It is time to reflect and take ownership of your life. In order to stimulate your thinking we have some supplimentary pages to review - re-socialisation, overcoming depression and more will be added. See our Singles Articles section for links to a number of articles by differnt authors on a great variety of issues and topics of interest to singles and single parents.

Every Night of the Week - Meet people and make new friends

You don't have to stay at home alone - there are educational, personal development and singles events to fill your singles diary for every night of the week.

Start filling your diary by viewing our Regional Events Calendars, check out the singles association page and join a singles or single parent association then become involved as a volunteer and check out your local adult education college or university for personal development education. The more you go out the more chance you have of meeting people and making friends.

You can go on your own

You can go on your own to all these singles functions - we all do. The cater for singles and single parents. Meet people there, start of conversation with someone on their own - they may be just like you, both of you will apreciate it. It is often OK to take a single friend for moral support but do branch out and meet new people.

Dance the night away

Guys the girls like to dance, so ask someone. Girls the guys find this hard at first, so it doesn't hurt to accept a dance request. You both will have fun. A couple of dances is all that is needed - and you have both enriched your evening.

Mix and mingle

It is good to mix with a variety of people at singles functions, after a while you get to know more people through Singles Diary.net activities. It's always nice to say hello to people you have met previously - it always gives us a feeling of belonging to this singles social scene, not feeling so alone.
